The Cape Winelands is the largest wine producing region in the Western Cape. There are over 200 cellars to choose from, allowing visitors to taste some of the finest wines in the world. Visitors can explore the rich historical and cultural heritage while visiting quaint villages and vibrant towns, museums and galleries, theatres and festivals.
Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch are three of the most popular towns in the region and accommodation varies from informal and relaxed, to distinguished and sophisticated.
Take a stroll round the historic town of Stellenbosch, which dates back to the time of the Dutch settlements. The Oak-lined streets house many excellent bars and restaurants and there are also museums and theatres to enjoy.
Work off lunch with one of many mountain walks. Simonsberg, for example, is a 1399m high mountain between Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl, where breathtaking views are around every turn.
